Island notes

A Clearwater Beach day that still works with a nap schedule.

Deborah lives here. These are the stretches of sand, the indoor resets, and the sunset rituals that actually survive a toddler.

Pier 60 stretching into a still gulf at sunset

Every evening

Pier 60 at sunset

The pier is the island's living room. Street performers, a crafts market, and a gulf sunset that even a tired toddler will pause for. Stroller the path; sit on the sand when the light goes peach.

Beach chairs and an umbrella on white sand

Quieter sand

Sand Key Park

A short hop south. More space, a playground, and a gentler morning than the Pier 60 crush. Wagon-friendly parking and a bathroom you will actually use.

Winter and Hope, the Clearwater Marine Aquarium dolphins, looking up through turquoise water

Indoor, air-conditioned

Clearwater Marine Aquarium

Winter the dolphin made this famous, but the rescue work is the reason to go. It is a perfect midday reset when the sand is too hot and everyone needs a dark room and a story.

On the water

Little Toot dolphin tours

A tugboat-style ride out of Clearwater Beach marina. About an hour, stroller-friendly dock, and infants ride free. Book ahead in season — the 10am and 11am boats are the easy ones with a nap still on the calendar.

Ferry day

Caladesi Island

A barrier island with no hotels. Take the ferry from Honeymoon Island, pack the wagon light, and spend a slow afternoon on undeveloped sand. Shade is not optional — bring ours.

Bring the wagon and the shade. Skip the rest of the packing list.

A beach day with little kids is a logistics problem. We solve the bulky half so you can keep the morning slow.
